Okay so leafy greens are excellent as food choices but what else
is green good for? Plenty if you are discussing your apartment
décor. Green is a very earthy color that comes in a variety of
different shades, be they the palest of greens, a mossy green, a
vibrant bright green or something more along the bluish-green
line such as turquoise or aquamarine.
Make
your apartment truly yours by infusing color into the very fiber of
the place. Think it’s difficult to do? Guess again! And it doesn’t
have to be expensive either. Here are some simple things you can do
to make your apartment more bright and colorful. Just think VIBRANT!
Still with me? Sure hope so.
Here are some more color inspiring decorating ideas. We take a look
at the living room next …
Here
in the northeastern United States, late summer means long, hot, days,
weekend trips to the seaside, and tomatoes: bushels and bushels of
tomatoes. Even for people who don't have gardens of their own,
tomatoes are abundant, as every gardener from the apartment-dweller
with a balcony garden to the farmer with acres of fields is suddenly
swamped with the juicy red fruits.
A Room with a Hue
It’s the little things in life, and sometimes turning your eye to the smallest items in home décor can make the biggest impact. If you are in the mood for a room transformation, but don’t have the time or budget to completely redecorate, try focusing on smaller portions of the room and creating focal points. You can still achieve a dramatic transformation with attention to detail and minimal effort.
It’s mid-summer, and in many parts of
the world this means it is hot, and you’re longing for something
simple and cool, something to soothe your summertime blues, or at
least to make you feel a little less sticky.
October
is the month of harvesting the garden’s remaining fruits, and what
better time to take a look at the shade of purple that we call plum?
This color is striking, warm, and delicious as the William Carlos
Williams poem:
Bright,
bold hues make a statement in today's designer kitchens
Bright, bold colors are making their way into America's
kitchens. Homeowners are painting over the whites and beiges that
once were the kitchen trend and making a statement with cobalt
blue, pink, turquoise, orange, red and even lime green. In many
cases, white has been relegated to a small role as accent or trim.
The Random House Dictionary defines "taupe" as a
"dark brownish gray," but that definition doesn't nearly do justice to this
neutral color, which can be used in many different setting to excellent
effect. Taupe, like other soft browns, works fabulously with other neutral
colors or with even with brighter colors.
Mexican décor is all about
rich colors, texture, and tradition. Its vibrant nature can
breathe life into any room. Mexican artisans have much to offer
by way of producing truly unique designs and variety.
Many years ago, I was helping a customer choose
colors for her home's exterior. The poor lady was practically
breaking out in hives trying to choose the perfect color. I had six
various shades of gray painted in test areas on her house. She tore
a piece of bark off an adjacent tree and held it up to each test
area to make sure it matched. She canvassed neighbors for opinions.
She spent a week looking at the colors in different lights. She
emailed photos to her sister in Florida asking Rain Shadow or Dove
Wing? She slept poorly. She was a mess.
Okay so let’s face it, you can be just as much of a fashionista
about clothing, shoes, makeup colors and the like as you can be about
your apartment, right? You want to be in style and keep up with the
latest trends and you want your home to reflect that.
So now we continue our look at the earthy array of fall colors that are
ours for the taking ...
