A Day in the Life. . .

How to (Not) Make a Good Impression at an Antique Show

Antique Shows are an excellent place to get a good deal on an antique.  Usually lasting two or three days, these shows attract vendors not only from local areas, but depending on the venue, statewide, countrywide, and internationally.

Cats and Dogs at The 4th of July Antique Show--Cayucos CA

Do not take a dog that has not been housebroken on a trip that includes sleeping in a 19’ trailer with two people, two cats, and two other dogs.

Ongoing Entertainment in the World of Antiques or,
the Estate Sale from Hell

Estate sales can offer all kinds of entertainment, as dealers and collectors can be inconsiderate, rude, and downright nuts, too. My husband, Keith, and I recently went to an estate sale in a gorgeous home with a pool. It was so entertaining that, when we were not trying to help, we just leaned back and watched.

Notes from Quartzsite, Arizona

During the summer months, Quartzsite, Arizona is a sleepy little town of roughly three thousand people. But, during the winter months, the population of Quartzsite explodes as snowbirds come to spend some of the early winter months or simply pass on through.

Doggonit!

For those of you who missed our adventures with Lola, the wretched pug, and George, the escape artist cat, at the antique and collectibles show where we worked over the Fourth of July weekend, please go to:

Antique Auction Mania

I admit it. I do stupid things. Of course, I make mistakes so infrequently that I should really not even bring the topic up….

These are my excuses:

When Towing a Trailer for the First Time….

1.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW HOW TO BACK UP, but only if you actually have to do it. Sometimes you luck out….

Children and Antiques

Sometimes a situation occurs where there are no “right” answers or at least the “right” answers are not acceptable to all parties involved.  A couple of weeks ago, my husband, Keith, and I were exhibiting at an outdoor antique event at one of the most beautiful settings where we have ever been shown, the Kearn County Museum, in Bakersfield, CA.

You Want to Buy a What???

Lately we have been going to auctions and estate sales to find antiques and collectibles for resale. Today, we decided to venture into the great world of garage sales because we haven’t gone to any in a while. A local real estate agent was sponsoring a neighborhood tract sale. This meant that we could find lots of garage sales in a small area.

Antique Noisemaker Toy -
High Anxiety Nervous Breakdown Temper Tantrum

Being an antique dealer is not always fun and games, although my husband Keith and I do carry antique kids toys. It was a noisemaker toy for parties that caused my most recent high anxiety nervous breakdown temper tantrum.

Keith's Diet Plan

My husband, Keith, and I are venturing into another territory with our antique sales. We usually acquire our merchandise at estate sales, at auctions, through friends, and at an occasional garage sale.
