Held for four days towards the beginning of the month of August every year, the Highway 127 Yard Sale offers antiques, collectibles, and all around junk for sale and a place in heaven for the hard core antique collector.

The Longest Yard Sale for the Antique Collector

The Highway 127 Yard Sale runs through five states, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia, and covers roughly 430 miles. The starting and ending points are Covington, Ohio, and Gadsden, Alabama. Of course, you can pick any place to start or stop along the road.

When you take the path, you will encounter not only garage sales, but professional antique and collectible dealers along the way. With thousands of participants, it is hard to believe that you will not find at least one or two great finds as you travel the treasure trail.

How can you pack in 630 miles in just four days? The reality is that you probably cannot. So, what you can do is relax, meander, and just pick up where you left off next year!

World’s Largest Garage Sale – Side Trips

On top of the temptations of finding the deal of the century, you will find many interesting places to stop and take a gander along Highway 127. If you are a history or travel buff as well as an antique collector, you may be hard pressed as to how to will spend your time.

Some of the tempting places that you might want to visit include:

  • National Underground Railroad Freedom Center – Cincinnati, Ohio
     
  • Big Bone Lick State Park – Union, Kentucky: See mammoths, mastodons, and other prehistoric animals.
     
  • Mill Springs Battlefield – Nancy, Kentucky: Site of the first important Union victory during the Civil War.
     
  • Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery – Celina, Tennessee: Take a tour.
     
  • Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Park – Georgia, Tennessee: Civil War Battle sites.
     
  • Noccalula Falls Park – Gadsden, Alabama: Includes the Falls, a pioneer village, miniature golf, and a War Memorial and Museum.

Of course, you will also find a myriad of antique stores to explore, tasty regional cuisine, and lots of junk for sale that will feed your antique collector’s heart on the Highway 127 Yard Sale.
