Turn Drab Into Dazzling in No Time at All!

When we first move into an apartment we do things to make it look sensational but as time wears on, especially if you live there for a few years, it gets to become kind of humdrum and let’s face it- drab. You can only rearrange your furniture so many times and some pieces cannot be moved at all (such as the television if you want to continue to have cable!). You have only so many plugs in your living room so you are limited as to where you can place anything that needs an electrical outlet, such as lamps or your computer.

What can you do then to make your place go from drab to dazzling in no time flat? The answer is simple- little touches go a long way to make a big difference. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Paint Your Apartment Beautiful!

I have said it before but I will say it again- paint is one of the quickest, easiest and cheapest ways to bring about a positive change to a room. Some tenants are not permitted to paint their walls while others are. Ask your super or property manager if you can at least paint one wall and promise to paint it back to its original color when you decide to move out. Yellow is a particularly welcoming color for a kitchen and even a living room as it is warm and inviting. Remember if you don’t like it then all you have to do is paint over it!

Flowers Make a Room Come Alive!

Flowers are a great way to make any room in your home come alive, but especially your living room because this is the room that guests spend time in. Here is a suggestion that I have personally tried and it works very well- buy a big glass vase and put a little bit of water in the bottom of it. Next take some faux flowers and cut the stems off of them and fill the vase with the tops of the flowers. Use as many or as few as you like. Do not overfill the vase however or the flowers will get drenched and sink. You can also do this with real flowers but it goes without saying that they won’t last as long and over time it will become expensive to constantly be replacing the flowers in the vase! :) Be as creative with your choice of flowers and their colors as you wish.
