The Eastern Phoebe may be considered a small bird lacking fancy
colors, but this common yard bird is known for its hawking of insects.
Don’t miss out on watching him feed.

Talk about a snappy dresser, the nuthatches bring glamour to a bird
feeder with their little band uniforms. Glossy black crown stripe and
nape and a blue gray jacket with white belly, neck, and face with black
and white lines of trim, makes him a pretty bird. He is stocky with a
short tail, a strong sharp bill, and black eyes.

Cardinal, is such a common bird even children seem to recognize him.
“There’s a Cardinal, Grandma!” shouts a two-year-old.

Swirl and rise – line a telephone wire from Pole to pole—three
Lengths covered every inch with living
It is cold outside today. When I woke this morning, I saw three little
black birds sitting in a row on the telephone wire that crosses my front
yard. Their backs were toward me and they sat still and fluffed out

Last week strolling through a small secondhand shop, I noticed a
photograph of three lemony yellow flowers with ice encasing the petals
and stems. It was entitled Daffodils on Ice. The frosted heads were
bowed with a heavy load on a cold, but sun-filled morning. They shone
and reflected light like a sparkling cut glass pitcher of cold lemonade.

nests. You can easily see nests which were hidden by leaves all summer.
Finding, examining and identifying nests can add to your knowledge of
