If you can sew a straight line, you can create these elegant curtains. All you need is a quality fabric that you love.
Fabric
Since you will not be lining these curtains, choose a high quality decor fabric. Most come in 54" widths, which is preferable since you will not be sewing widths of fabric together. Keep in mind that because you are not lining the curtains, the sun will fade them more quickly over time.
Depending on the width of your window, in most cases you will be able to draw these closed for privacy. If you have wider windows, use the curtains as accessories and add sheers or blinds for privacy to keep the project simple.
Measuring the window
Before you measure the length of the window itself, decide how high you would like to place the curtain rod. The higher the rod, the more dramatic the effect.
Measure the distance from the top of the rod to the floor. Add 12" for the header and 6" for the hem.
Simple sewing
Cut 2 panels of your fabric to the correct length.
Lay your fabric flat with the right side facing down. Turn the left side over 1" so the wrong sides can be pinned together. Press. Turn over another 1", press and stitch. Do the same to the right edge of the fabric.
Header
Lay your fabric flat with the right side facing down. Turn the top of the fabric over 6" so the wrong sides are together. Press. Turn over another 6", press and stitch. If your fabric has a pattern, make sure that the pattern is right side up before you stitch.
