This year I vow to work on small manageable projects, and a yo-yo is
just the thing to kick start this new found philosophy. Yo-yos are both
fun and easy to make, and another way to use up those fabric scraps. You
can take this fun to make craft project with you where you go, as it is
easily portable in your sewing/craft bag.
Thanksgiving is here and gone and now the hustle and bustle begins in
earnest. Have you been checking your list, and checking it twice, only
to realize your list of ‘to dos’ is rather longer than time allows for a
few more homemade gifts? Have heart, here’s an idea for a hand stitched,
appliquéd Christmas stocking you can whip up in no time at all! The idea
came from Carol, a friend, who e-mailed me for some sewing advice.
With the holidays fast approaching we all will have gifts to wrap.
Why not finish off that special gift this year with a personalized,
quilted, gift tag? Let these simple steps kick start your imagination so you can add
your own personalized touch to the gifts you give.
Whenever starting a new hobby or attempting a new craft, it’s
important to have a few of the essential items for that task.
However, when you enter a craft or hobby department it’s easy to
be overwhelmed by the large and varied selection of items.
Some photos are just too good, too candid, or just plain too
cute, to be relegated to a drawer, shoebox, or album. Some
photos are meant to be “out there” for all to see. What better
way to showcase those favorite photos than to transfer them to
fabric and sew them into useful items to be used or displayed.
Where did the summer go? July is gone and August is before
us…and that means school…again. For my grandson it will be his
first day of pre-school. Time goes so fast. I asked my
daughter–in-law what was on his school supply list-hoping to see
a kindergarten mat and blanket. Why? Because this grandmother
has an ulterior motive, that’s why.
Cut a foundation piece, any size or shape. I used the bottom card
board from a very large box of Valentine candy to trace a heart
shape onto a piece of muslin for my pillow.
