Chili Season Dry Mix

Making your own mixes is a natural step for those of us who can and preserve our own foods. But unlike canning or freezing, which require special equipment such as canners or freezers, these recipes require very little and can be stored anywhere.

This one is for a wonderful chili seasoning mix. There is no need to buy those expensive packets from the store with fillers and ingredients you can't even pronounce when you can make your own.

Easy to Make Chili Season Mix

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 Tablespoons fine sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons paprika
  • 4 Tablespoons onion flakes or granulated or 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 4 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients together thoroughly. Store in a airtight container and store in a cool dark place.

Add 1 - 2 tablespoons of seasoning to a pound of hamburger to suit your tastes. You can add more or less cayenne pepper depending on how spicy you like your chili.

NOTE TO READERS: If you haven't bought an attachment for canning jars yet for your Foodsaver I highly recommend it. It seals dry ingredients and keeps them fresh for years.
