Making your own mixes is a natural step for those of us who can and preserve our own foods. But unlike canning or freezing, which require special equipment such as canners or freezers, these recipes require very little and can be stored anywhere.
This one is for a wonderful chili seasoning mix. There is no need to buy those expensive packets from the store with fillers and ingredients you can't even pronounce when you can make your own.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients together thoroughly. Store in a airtight container and store in a cool dark place. This make a large batch - cut recipe in half for a smaller batch.
To use: Add 1/4 - 1/2 cup for each pound ground beef.
NOTE TO READERS: If you haven't bought an attachment for canning jars
yet for your Foodsaver I highly recommend it. It seals dry ingredients
and keeps them fresh for years.
