Fiesta and Siesta with the Kids on Your Next Mexico Vacation
By: Tammy Biondi
Many of the most popular family vacation destinations in Mexico are located on the Yucatan peninsula, where visitors can enjoy a combination of beaches, tropical forests, archeological sites and Mexican culture while being able to stay in comfortable, or even luxurious, accommodations. However, there are wonderful family destinations that you should visit on your next Mexico vacation.
Here are some of the best bets for a family jaunt to Mexico:
Cancun
Cancun is great for families and kids of all ages. There are plenty of amusement parks, guided Jeep tours, air-conditioned shopping malls and all of the attractions that you would typically expect to find along a beach boardwalk. Cancun is loaded with all-inclusive resorts that cater to families, including Beach Palace and Dreams Cancun.
Many of Cancun's beaches, although scenic, are too rocky, too full of boat traffic or too likely to have strong currents to be good for swimming, especially with children. However, Playa Langosta, Playa Tortugas and Playa Las Perlas and Playa Lancheros on Isla Mujueres are suitable for swimming as well as sunbathing and water sports. Be advised that Cancun has been hit hard by a couple of hurricanes during the past few years, so be sure to check the condition of the beaches you hope to visit in order to avoid disappointment.
