Inexpensive Mother’s Day Gifts

An inexpensive Mother’s Day gift doesn’t have to come off as cheap or thoughtless. Here are several low cost Mother’s Day gifts that Mom is sure to love:

Homemade stationary or cards- Everyone needs to write a letter or send a card from time to time. Make sure Mom has all the necessary supplies on hand by creating custom stationary or note cards for her. To make this gift, start by purchasing some plain stationary or note cards from a discount store. Then, get to work decorating. Stamps, stickers, simple sketches or carefully lettered quotes are just some of the many things you could use to decorate Mom’s gift.

Beautiful blooms- If Mom loves to garden, you can’t go wrong with flowers. Pick out a flat of flowers from your local nursery, and then transfer the plants to an old muffin tin. This will make the gift seem more special, and help you to recycle some of your worn bakeware.

High-end house plant- Skip the high-priced flower arrangement with the short lifespan, and give Mom a houseplant instead. To make the gift a bit nicer, plant your selection in a pretty tea cup or some other unexpected container. Hit a couple thrift stores, and you’re sure to find the perfect planter.

Written words- If Mom loves to read, books are an obvious, but appreciated choice. Head to a used bookstore, and pick out a few selections for Mom. To make the gift truly meaningful try to stick to a particular theme that interests your mom—travel books, craft how-to, Oprah’s Book Club or works by a favorite author are just a few possibilities.

Repalcement item- Has one of your Mom’s favorite plates been broken? Have a few pieces of her silverware been misplaced? Do an inventory of your Mom’s tableware to see if there are any gaps in her collection. Then, if you happen to find something lacking, see if you can find a replacement. Companies like replacements Ltd. and Ebay make it easy to find low cost replacements for china and silverware—even when the item in question has been discontinued.

Kitchen gadget- If your mom likes to cook, spoil her with one of the latest kitchen gadgets. Cookie scoops, silicon baking mats and reusable muffin cups are all fun kitchen splurges that don’t cost a lot of money on their own. Just tie a silk ribbon around your gadget of choice, and you’ll have an ideal gift for Mom.

Remember: The perfect Mother’s Day gift doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Think about your mom’s interests, and then try to match them to an inexpensive, but thoughtful gift.
