Jewelry representative then finishes the jewelry for a custom fit and
look.
Customers can choose from set patterns and then alter the patterns to
their individual tastes Or, customers can design their own jewelry from
scratch. U Design Jewelry uses high quality supplies such as 925
sterling silver beads, Swarovski crystals, and semi-precious stones. You
can also buy gold filled merchandise instead of sterling silver.
U Design Jewelry is a member of the Direct Selling Association.
Initial Cost and Commitment Needed to Start
U Design Jewelry offers two starter kits. The smaller kit costs
$1,500 and the larger kit is $2,500.
Both kits include supplies, tools, invitations, and basically
everything else you will need to have a party, including suggested
resale prices.
U Design Jewelry offers training on how to make and sell jewelry. As
part of your training, you will make a bracelet, watch, and other
jewelry which is yours at no cost. In addition, you will have someone
from U Design Jewelry help you at your first party.
Requirements consist of a minimum product purchase of $250 per
quarter.
Profits Involved and Expected Earnings
Keeping in mind that U Design Jewelry makes their money on the
supplies that the company sells you, profits generally run from 40% to
60% over costs.
U Design Jewelry has three levels of representatives:
- Independent Representatives have fewer than five people working for
them.
- Senior Design Representatives have a minimum of five people who he
or she has recruited and all are meeting or beating their sales
minimums.
- Executive Design Representatives are the highest level of
representatives.
In addition to making profits on your own sales, you can make up to
5% on any of your recruits’ purchases as well as up to 4% on any
purchases that are a result of your team members bringing in new people.
U Design Jewelry also offers bonuses for out of state recruits,
incentives, and year end awards.
As with many direct sales companies, your return will largely depend
on the efforts that you make to have parties, recruit new team members,
and sell more product.
Pros and Cons
On the pro side, there are no territories, so you can recruit new
team members from any part of the United States. In addition, U Design
Jewelry differentiates itself from its competition by allowing customers
to make truly one of a kind pieces of jewelry using quality materials.
If you are creative, you can find other ways to sell your jewelry in
addition to or instead of parties.
On the con side, the initial investment can be high, particularly if
you are not interested in holding parties on a frequent basis. And,
since you don’t have a protected territory, someone else who lives close
to you can start the same business. Finally, since U Design Jewelry is
relatively new, you cannot depend on a history of financial stability.
