Design with Color
Here
in the northeastern United States, late summer means long, hot,
days, weekend trips to the seaside, and tomatoes: bushels and
bushels of tomatoes.
It’s mid-summer, and in many parts of
the world this means it is hot, and you’re longing for something
simple and cool, something to soothe your summertime blues, or at
least to make you feel a little less sticky.
October
is the month of harvesting the garden’s remaining fruits, and what
better time to take a look at the shade of purple that we call plum?
This color is striking, warm, and delicious as the William Carlos
Williams poem:
Last year color was all about finding contentment and relaxation throughout
the home using a thoughtfully considered, yet expansive palette of comfort
creating hues.
The Random House Dictionary defines "taupe" as a
"dark brownish gray," but that definition doesn't nearly do justice to this
neutral color, which can be used in many different setting to excellent
effect. Taupe, like other soft browns, works fabulously with other neutral
colors or with even with brighter colors.
