Open Season is animated good fun for children.
After a serious misdeed, a city-raised grizzly bear named Boog (Martin Lawrence)
is sent to live in the forest just a few days before hunting season begins.

The Parent Trap (1961)
The Parent Trap with Haley Mills is a Classic "Baby Boomer" 45 year old Family
movie. I do love bit of Disney fluff. It stars beautiful Maureen O'Hara and
handsome Brian Keith; and gives us a double helping of a very young Hayley
Mills, who plays twin sisters. The movie may be sugary sweet, but it is a real
tribute to children, parenthood and love.
I
recently watched Walt Disney's film Bambi for the first time in
many years. What a joy it was. I first saw this beautiful movie
as a child in grammar school. What I most remember is a teacher
comforting me while I cried as Bambi called out to his mother, I
heard the shot and realized his mother was dead. I thought that
I had remembered the whole movie.
It is a busy time for department store executive Dorey
Walker (Elizabeth Perkins) as Christmas nears. She is responsible for
the store’s annual parade and hiring a department store Santa Claus.
The Kranks forfeit Kristmas!
Luther Krank (Tim Allen) convinces his wife Nora (Jamie Lee Curtis)
that they should skip Christmas and go on a cruise instead. He reasons,
it is cheaper and besides daughter Blair (Julie Gonzalo) has left for
South America to work with the Peace Corp.
When Kevin shouts “I wish my family would disappear”, he never
expects it to happen.
Home Alone
has become a movie classic. Although the action takes place at
Christmas, it is not all that significant to this movie, the season
(winter) is more important.
When my 8-year-old and I went to see "Bend It Like
Beckham," we went by accident. We were at the theater
to see "Lizzie Maguire," but had erred on its release
date. So, frustrated after standing in a long line, I
asked the clerk, "What other kids' movie there is
starting soon? Fine, sold."
James Cameron may have thought he made the movie of a
lifetime when he directed 1997's Oscar-laden "Titanic," but "Ghosts of the
Abyss" in some ways is a bigger accomplishment.
Maxis' "The Sims" has come a long way from its original release two years ago. Scale back to the original version of "The Sims," and it's great for kids, who create simulated people, including what they look like, what their personalities are, who's in their families, their houses, and their jobs.
I have to confess a secret vice: I love movies where Jim
Carrey acts like a goofball. In movies like "The Grinch," "The
Mask" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," Carrey clowns around with such utter
abandon I can't help but laugh.
Recommended to me by another parent, Microsoft Games' "Zoo
Tycoon" is a true winner, for kids who can read and for kids who
can't. The game premise is one where you are responsible for
building and maintaining your very own zoo. Your job is to build a
safe and entertaining zoo that remains financially solvent.
