Herbal Bath

To some a science, to others folklore, the use of herbs for medicinal purposes has been around for centuries.  Growing increasingly popular, herbs are being used commercially in everything from bath products to shampoos.  

Faced with shelf after shelf of pretty bottles all promising beauty and well being, just exactly what are the promises of these herbal additives?  Here is a quick reference guide to the herbs commonly found in beauty products.

  • Lavender- used as a tension reliever, lavender is believed to be calming and relaxing.

  • Peppermint- used as a stimulant, peppermint is believed to be invigorating and refreshing.

  • Chamomile- used to help induce a mile sleep, chamomile is believed to relax and calm.

  • Calendula- used as an antiseptic, calendula is believed to be an anti-inflammatory.

  • Eucalyptus- used as a stimulant, eucalyptus is believed to be a decongestant.
     
  • Rosemary- used as a stimulant, rosemary is believed to soothe sore muscles.
